Postcards to Cicely

Share

I just witnessed the end of a beautiful series. The finale of “Northern Exposure” (CBS, July 26) was a graceful and touching exit for TV’s most wonderful show. Bringing the entire cast together, it paid one final tribute to nature and philosophy, life’s changes and friendship.

I’m glad The Times paid homage to the passing of “Northern Exposure” (Calendar, July 26) but I definitely disagree with writer Lee Margulies’ contention that it was time for the show to end. It was starting to overdo the “Twin Peaks”--style fantasy segments. But on the other hand, I was happy to lose Rob Morrow’s whiny Dr. Joel and gain L.A. yuppies Michelle and Phil, who added much in their struggle to accept Cicely’s strange ways. With so little quality, thought-provoking fare on television, “Northern Exposure” will be sorely missed.
