Fullerton-Based Day Runner Posts 19% Gain in Fiscal Year Profit

Day Runner Inc., a Fullerton manufacturer of organizer and planner products, posted a profit of $8 million, or $1.25 a share, for the fiscal year ended June 30, up 19% from $6.7 million, or $1.08 a share, in the previous year, which included an extraordinary gain of $718,000 from a litigation settlement. Sales were up 26% to $121.8 million from $97 million. Net income for the fourth quarter more than doubled from the same period a year ago, to $1.9 million, or 29 cents a share, from $887,000, or 14 cents a share. Sales gained 25% to $33.1 million from $26.4 million.
