Mad About Rising Crime and the First Presbyterian Church of Sherman Oaks will kick off their “Thumbs Up, LAPD” bumper sticker campaign at a public meeting tonight.
The stickers--with blue lettering and a hand with the thumb up--were the idea of church member Jerry Harrison, according to MARC spokesman Joe Sands.
“It’s to show the rank and file that we appreciate what they do,” said Sands, adding that 250 stickers have already been sold.
Expected to attend the meeting are actor Hugh O’Brian, Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Feuer, LAPD Deputy Chief Martin Pomeroy, Cmdr. Tim McBride and Van Nuys Division Cmdr. Capt. Richard Wemmer.
Stickers will be available at the meeting for $1.50 each or $2 by mail. To order by mail, sent a check or money order and a stamped, self-addressed legal-size envelope to: MARC, P.O. Box 7774, Northridge 91327-7774.
Tonight’s meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Sherman Oaks, 4445 Noble Ave. For more information, call (818) 368-1112.
