IBM to Cut Some PC Prices: Big Blue said it will cut prices on some of its corporate personal computer models, effective today. Prices on IBM PC 300 series and 700 series models will drop. Further details on the cuts weren’t immediately available. Compaq Computer Corp. of Houston said earlier this week that it would cut prices on some corporate and consumer computers by as much as 25%. Compaq, the No. 1 PC maker, said it was preparing for a sales binge driven by Microsoft Corp.’s unveiling next Thursday of its Windows 95 operating system. Armonk, N.Y.-based International Business Machines Corp., the No. 2 worldwide computer maker, is expected to announce its own new line of desktop and portable computers next month.
