Astro Sciences Names an Interim President and CEO

Gerald Sayer has been named interim president and chief executive of Astro Sciences Corp., a Chatsworth-based maker of computer networking equipment.

Sayer succeeds A. Charles Lubash, who moves to the position of vice chairman and will oversee corporate development and planning. Sayer will be responsible for overseeing operations of the company, which was founded by Apollo 12 astronauts Richard F. Gordon and Charles (Pete) Conrad.

* Unocal Corp. has named David A. Demont vice president for human resources. Demont, 51, was formerly executive president of Sanwa Bank California’s administrative support group and has also held various positions in human resources with Chase Manhattan Bank in Los Angeles and General Electric Co. in Connecticut.

Los Angeles-based Unocal also announced the appointment of Robert E. Wright as vice president for investor relations. Wright, 48, joined Unocal in 1969 and has had various positions in Los Angeles and Houston.

* Yaeger Capital Markets Inc. said Arthur E. Rockwell has joined the Los Angeles-based firm as director of institutional research, specializing in entertainment, leisure and media. Yaeger Capital Markets was founded as Woman Business Enterprise. Rockwell, who has held executive positions at MGM/UA Entertainment Co. and Turner Entertainment Co., most recently did investment research for Rockwell Capital Management.

* David W. Wogahn has been named chief operating officer of Stella Interactive Inc., a year-old sports multimedia publishing company in Carlsbad. Before joining Stella, Wogahn, 41, was vice president of Times Mirror Multimedia.
