Carol C. Schwindt of Santa Paula, who worked 35 years for Union Oil Co. and was the first manager of the Union Oil Museum in Santa Paula, has died. She was 62.

The cause of death Sunday was high blood pressure and narrowed arteries, said her brother, Douglas Schwindt Jr. of Santa Paula.

Born in Culver City, she moved to Oxnard in 1942, where she attended Colonia School and Oxnard High School. She moved to Santa Paula in 1948 and was graduated from Santa Paula Union High School. She was graduated from Ventura College in 1954.

Schwindt worked her way up from the secretarial pool at Union Oil Co. to become a shareholder representative. For many years, she coordinated arrangements for the company’s annual shareholder meetings.

She also helped develop the original exhibits in the Union Oil Museum, which she ran for three years, her brother said.

She retired recently to help her brother operate the Golden Top Catering Service.

She was a member of the Santa Paula Historical Society, the Chamber of Commerce and the Soroptimist Club.

She is survived by her brother and several cousins.

A memorial service will be announced later. Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

Donations in Schwindt’s memory may be made to the Santa Paula Boys & Girls Club.
