Valley Needs Forums on Revising Constitution

Share

* While The Times is to be commended for giving coverage to the upcoming state Constitution Revision Commission, you failed to provide Valley residents with a list of local venues where they can personally input their views.

Actually, when you review the selected locations you discover that the San Fernando Valley, with a population of 1.5 million, has been excluded from consideration as a venue for public hearings.

This is unacceptable to me and should be unacceptable to the legislators who represent the Valley. The citizens of the San Fernando Valley have a great interest in these constitutional revisions. They will be the most far-reaching revisions in 145 years. Unfortunately, politically active San Fernando Valley residents will need to travel to Claremont or Carson to be a part of the process.

This is grossly unfair. Community forums should be scheduled for the San Fernando Valley so those of us who take an active interest in California politics can access the commission and have our voices heard.
