Buyers Can Get Mortgage Help at Times Fair

When buying a home, nothing is more confusing than finding the right home loan. But worry no more.

Come to The Times Home Buyers Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Burbank Hilton Hotel and Convention Center, 2500 Hollywood Way, Burbank, and get consumer-oriented advice on the mortgage market.

Home loan expert Earl Peattie of Mortgage News Co. will explain how to decipher what the mortgage terms mean and how to get the best interest rate.

Credit specialists from the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Los Angeles will help you overcome debt problems, fix credit report dings and prepare your financial biography so you can qualify for a loan. Also, fair-goers can get free credit reports at the fair.

With more than 20 leading banks, thrifts and mortgage bankers exhibiting at the fair, home buyers can shop interest rates and terms, as well as get pre-qualified, in one place. Also exhibiting will be federal, state and local mortgage officials, including the California Housing Finance Agency, FHA and the city of Los Angeles homeownership program.

Admission is $5 per person, or $4 with a coupon from The Times. Children under 12 are free.
