Pacific Sunwear Tries on 5 New Locations for Size

Pacific Sunwear of California Inc., a casual apparel retailer, said Tuesday that the company will be opening five new stores Friday, bringing the total number of new locations to 46 in 1995. The mall-based retailer will open two stores in Texas and one each in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Florida. Pacific Sunwear officials say that the Anaheim company will open nine more stores later this year. The new openings Friday will increase the total number of stores to 174 in 28 states.

Pacific Sunwear reported net sales for six months ended July 30 of $45.1 million, an increase of 26% over $35.9 million for the same period the year before. The company lost $400,000 for six months ended July 30, contrasted with a profit of $1.06 million for the same period the year before.
