ORANGE COUNTY ALMANAC : A Pier With a Past
- Share via
Huntington Beach Pier has a long history.
The first pier, a 1,000-foot-long wooden structure built in 1904, was damaged by winter storms in 1912.
The newly incorporated city approved a $70,000 bond issue to replace it with a 1,350-foot concrete pier--at the time the longest, highest and only solid-concrete pleasure pier in the nation.
