Album Reviews : In Brief

** After 7, “Reflections,” Virgin. This trio includes two of Babyface’s brothers, and it sounds best when it most closely approximates his velvety vulnerability. The best example of that is “Till You Do Me Right,” a wounded plea of an R&B; tune. Nothing else here tugs as strongly at the heartstrings, proving that one should accept no substitute when it comes to please-baby-please balladeers. Babyface remains the current master of that genre. New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
