The duck mirror by artist David Dear is sure to fill the bill on your favorite vanity or night table. The mirror ($120), with handcrafted cast pewter feet, is one of more than 214 products available in the first Art Matters catalogue, being distributed throughout Southern California and the rest of the country next week. More than 80 artists, including L.A.-area designers Jim Reva, Lari Pittman and l.a. eyeworks--are represented in the catalogue, which is being used to raise money for the Art Matters Foundation. The nonprofit group makes direct grants to emerging artists in the United States. Other exceptional pieces for the home include a striped, porcelain perfume bottle ($58) by Jonathan Adler, retro lamps ($60) by Lyn Godley and a plate ($125) by William Wegman featuring his dog, Man Ray. Mexican Palette

Latin American culture comes alive in the newest wallpaper grouping by Imperial Wallcoverings.

Casa Hermosa, which means “beautiful home” in Spanish, celebrates the colors, history and mystique of Mexican artistry. San Bernardino painter Nancy Glenn Nieto, Imperial’s consultant for the project, did extensive research to ensure the accuracy of the colors and patterns.

“In Mexico, everything is an art,” says Nieto, an American of Mexican descent, “and that is what Casa Hermosa captures so authentically.”

There are five categories--Folkloric Splendor, Calla Lily, Pre-Columbian, Pottery and Tile and Fruit Market--in the line, which will be available later this month. Sidewalls start around $20, and borders and fabrics begin at $22 and $28.

And his latest venture--furnishings for the bed, bath and table--is no less rich or robust looking than his couture.

Calvin Klein Home’s bedding collection, due in stores this month, has three types of sheeting (cotton percale, cotton sateen and linen, ranging from $35 to $1,500 for twin), six styles of blankets ($65 to $200 for twin) and linen throws ($275 to $1,075). Decorative pillows are also part of the line.

The bath accessories line offers three types of towels ($25 to $55 for bath size) in 12 colors, including a linen-cotton blend. The table pieces come in six designs and two floral patterns. All dinnerware ($65 to $125 per five-piece place setting) is manufactured by Swid Powell. Coordinating serving pieces round out the collection.
