Countywide : Library Will Offer More Than Food for Thought

The county’s Aliso Viejo library, scheduled to open on Pacific Park Drive in 1997, will be a departure from custom.

In addition to books and periodicals, the 21,000-square-foot facility will include expansive patios, a community auditorium and the county’s first “library restaurant” for patrons who crave a snack after they browse through the stacks.

The building will be near Journey and Pacific Park Drive, across from a new county fire station. The construction is being financed by Mission Viejo Co., which is also providing the land in lieu of paying developer fees to the county.

In addition to the restaurant and auditorium, the library will have three conference rooms and an outdoor quad area, said Georgia Weddle, regional manager for the Orange County Public Library system.
