Welfare Investigators Doing Good Job

* Hurray for the Department of Social Services (“O.C. Welfare Recipients Subject of Random Fraud Investigations,” Aug. 20). Welfare fraud is the biggest concern (more than the economy, more than the health care issue) of every person I know. How dare “recipients” of welfare be insulted if they are randomly investigated. Recipient is the key word here!

We working class (and paying class) are certainly required to follow rules and also possibly be investigated by agencies such as the IRS, no matter if we don’t like it. Welfare recipients should certainly also have to follow rules and be subject to investigation. We are willing to help people truly in need, for a limited time, but we also must stop paying for unlimited children for an unlimited amount of time.

Keep up the good work, investigators. All law-abiding taxpayers are in your debt; $83 million is a huge amount of money [saved].

Thank you for this excellent article.
