Fair Will Offer Tax Advice for Home Buyers

Share

Tax savings are among the biggest benefits of homeownership. But how can you make sure you’re getting all the tax breaks you’re entitled to?

Easy-to-understand tax advice, and answers to your own tax questions, are two of the benefits of attending The Times Home Buyers Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Burbank Hilton Hotel and Convention Center, 2500 Hollywood Way, Burbank.

An Internal Revenue Service tax specialist will lead a workshop on federal and state income tax deductions and ways to take full advantage of them. Trained counselors will staff an IRS booth at the fair to help guide you through the home-buying tax maze.

Those who attend will learn how to use computers to get online real estate tax information and how to retrieve forms electronically.

Besides the tax panel, workshops will give advice on cleaning up your credit and choosing the best home loan, the best real estate agent, the ideal neighborhood and the perfect house.

With more than 20 leading mortgage lenders exhibiting at the fair, home buyers can shop interest rates and terms, as well as get pre-qualified, in one place. A credit check, always a good idea before house hunting, will be available free.

Admission is $5, or $4 with a coupon from The Times. Children younger than 12 are admitted free.
