Encino : Police Department to Open Drop-In Center

A Los Angeles Police Department drop-in center will soon be established on Ventura Boulevard, City Councilman Marvin Braude’s office announced Friday.

People can file crime reports, get help organizing Neighborhood Watch groups and obtain other information at the drop-in center, which will be at 17547 Ventura Blvd., Suite 203, east of White Oak Avenue.

The new office is expected to open in about two weeks.

Its hours of operation will depend on the number of volunteers who sign up.

The Police Department’s goal is to have the office open Monday through Friday for six hours a day.

Also opening a neighborhood office in the same building, in Suite 303, is the city Building and Safety Department, which will establish the satellite operation of its residential inspection unit.

Its hours of operation will be 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. and 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday.

During these hours, the times when building inspectors are not conducting field inspections, they will be available for meetings with people who want to schedule inspections on their property or to report building code violations.

The same building also houses Braude’s district office.
