GM Says It Will Expand No-Haggle Sales Program

General Motors Corp.’s California marketing unit, based in Thousand Oaks, says the auto maker will expand its dicker-less selling strategy in the state during the 1996 model year.

Ann N. Pattyn, project manager for the no-haggle marketing program in California, said GM will increase the number of models included in the program to 89, up from 70 in the 1995 model year and 46 the previous year.

Most of GM’s auto divisions and GMC trucks will increase their value-priced offerings in 1996, Pattyn said.

Pattyn credits the program with boosting GM’s market share in the state. She said the company sold more cars and trucks in California at the retail level than any other manufacturer during the 1994 calendar year, passing Ford for the first time since 1991.
