Medical Foundation Fund-Raiser Planned
About 24 restaurants and 16 wineries have signed on for a Sept. 16 fund-raiser for the Ventura County Medical Center.
Sponsored by the Ventura County Medical Resource Foundation, the 10th annual Celebration of Gourmet Food and Wine will take place at a garden estate at 2317 W. Los Angeles Ave., Oxnard.
The adventurous can bid on silent auction items, including dinners at local restaurants and murder mystery parties for eight. The sounds of bands, including John Marx’s Blues Patrol, will drift across Rancho Santa Clara del Norte’s historical gardens as attendees sample food specialties.
The Medical Resource Foundation is a private nonprofit agency that raises funds for the county hospital. Julie Henning, the foundation’s executive assistant, said the foundation has helped the hospital with purchasing needed medical equipment.
“Now the hospital has eight clinics across the county,” Henning said. “We’re helping to fund-raise for equipment in those clinics.”
Reservations are required for the event held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Call 648-9472 for information.
