Dressing Down for Mosh Pit

Share

You don’t need to dress up for the mosh pit. Anything torn, stained or otherwise disposable will do.

The moshing was going strong during the Warped Tour punk-oriented concert that landed at Irvine Meadows this week. Kids bumped, pushed and basically grooved to the music in their own rocky way.

While moshers kept their fashion statements to a grungy minimum, other festival-goers who turned out for bands like L7 and Fluf were more interested in personal, sometimes eye-opening styles. The usual spiked hair and pants as baggy as a small Brownie’s tent were there, and so were other inventive looks.

Girls showed up in flirty skirts made from vintage ties and crowned with crinkle tank-tops. Then there were the Drew Barrymore wanna-bes (complete with dyed blond hair with the dark roots showing), done up in plaid jumpers, crop-tops and “Gone With the Wind” hair knots.

A few hats spiced the scene as well. A favorite had to be the oversize number straight out of Dr. Seuss’ “Cat in the Hat.” Maybe not warped, but certainly wild enough for the meadow.
