Share

Bob Larkin, former chairman of the Ventura County Republican Party, will officially kick off his campaign for the Assembly with a barbecue fund-raiser in Simi Valley on Sunday.

Larkin is running for the 38th Assembly District seat being vacated by Paula Boland (R-Granada Hills), who is being forced to step down next year because of legislative term limits. Boland’s district includes Simi Valley, Fillmore and portions of the northwest San Fernando Valley.

Other Republican candidates seeking the Assembly seat include Steve Frank, a government affairs consultant; Scott Wilk, Boland’s chief of staff; Peggy Freeman, a former director of a social-service center; Ross Hopkins, a businessman, and Robert Hamlin, a former sheriff’s deputy.
