A “Massing of the Colors” ceremony will be held today in the courtyard of the Ventura County Government Center.

Color guards from at least 25 organizations, including the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution and Veterans of Foreign Wars, will parade with their colorful flags in the third annual event.

“The purpose is to show their colors and have a patriotic gathering and lots of music,” said Lt. Edwin C. Holt, commander of the Military Order of the World Wars, Region XIV.

Ventura County Supervisor John Flynn, former Rep. Robert Lagomarsino and Capt. James Delker, commanding officer of the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Port Hueneme, will participate in the event. There will also be a moment of silence to remember those who have died in military conflicts.

Free to the public, the 12:30 p.m. ceremony is sponsored by the Ventura County chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars.
