John Megna; Former Child Actor, Stage Director

John Megna, 42, a former child actor who appeared in “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Born in Ozone Park, N.Y., and educated at Cornell University, Megna portrayed Dill, a neighbor and friend of Scout, the little girl in the 1962 film that starred Gregory Peck. Megna also appeared in “All the Way Home,” a Broadway play based on the James Agee novel about the impact of a father’s death. A half brother of actress Connie Stevens, Megna acted in many other films and television programs and later directed plays in small Los Angeles theaters. His last performance as an actor was in the 1978 Burt Lancaster film, “Go Tell the Spartans,” one of the first American motion pictures to deal honestly with the war in Vietnam.
