OXNARD : Public Help Sought in Stabbing Incident
- Share via
Oxnard police are still stumped by an attempted murder case in April and are seeking information from the public to help solve the crime.
Mauricio Garcia, 19, was stabbed April 19 by a man described as Spanish-speaking, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, police said.
Garcia’s car was stopped at a red light at Ventura Road and Bevra Avenue when the attacker’s car rear-ended him. When Garcia pulled over to the side of the road to exchange information, the man confronted Garcia and stabbed him once in the chest, police said.
Garcia remains in critical condition and in a coma. Detectives believe the suspected attacker, who was driving a blue, 1985 Pontiac Sunbird with California license plate number 1MUX684, fled to Mexico with his wife and infant child.
But they have reason to believe the suspect, who sometimes goes by the alias Benjamin Amador Espinoza, may have recently returned to Oxnard.
Anyone with information is urged to call police at 385-TALK. A composite drawing of the suspect is available at the Oxnard police station.
