From Times Wire Reports
Imelda Marcos, driven into exile nine years ago in an uprising that toppled her husband, won Supreme Court approval to take her seat in Congress despite opposition from a government election commission. The court upheld Marcos’ appeal of a commission ruling that she did not meet residency requirements for a seat in the House of Representatives. Marcos won the seat by a landslide in May elections. She won the race despite a 1993 graft conviction, for which she received a prison sentence of up to 24 years. She is free on bail pending appeal.
