Malibu is known for its gorgeous beaches and magnificent ocean views . . . and the city plans to keep it that way.
Keeping Malibu beautiful is the theme of the city’s proposed general plan--a first for the city. The City Council on Wednesday held its first in a series of public hearings on the plan, which took nearly four years to hammer out.
The general plan, a blueprint that shows how a city envisions its growth and development, focuses less on development than on preserving the area’s natural beauty.
“People here don’t want Malibu to become another Miami Beach,” said Joyce Parker, Malibu’s planning director.
