Fourteen starters suspended for their part in a prank last spring are expected to be back in uniform for the Anaheim football team at 7:30 tonight for its game against Loara at Glover Stadium.
The players, including running back Reuben Droughns and his brother Robert, a standout linebacker, were involved in what was described as a nasty school tradition when they “got a little carried away” at a grad night party, according to Anaheim Athletic Director Dan Miller.
“It’s been going on for five years or so,” Miller said. “Juniors are supposed to [throw eggs] on seniors’ cars.”
Instead, the juniors put a few dents in at least one car and allegedly spray painted graffiti on it.
By suspending the players for the season opener, which Anaheim lost, 44-0 to Fullerton, administrators wanted to make it known that they don’t want this practice to continue, Miller said.
