COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Edwards Sets UCI Volleyball Mark in Loss to Hawaii

UC Irvine won the first game, 15-12, but the dropped the next three to second-ranked Hawaii, 15-7, 15-8, 15-6, in a Big West Conference women’s volleyball match Friday at UCI.
Popi Edwards became the Anteaters’ all-time kill leader, surpassing Kim Collins, who totaled 1,280 from 1987 to 1990.
Edwards led UCI (2-5, 0-1) with 16 kills and Cynthia Trotter added 12.
Theresa Crawford and Angelica Ljundquist led Hawaii (8-0, 2-0) with 16 kills each.
In the Trinity College women’s volleyball tournament:
Chapman 3, Southwestern (Tex.) 1--Shawna Parkinson had 16 kills for Chapman (1-2), which won, 15-6, 11-15, 15-13, 15-3, in San Antonio.
In the Concordia men’s soccer tournament:
College of Notre Dame 1, Concordia 0--Jose Cuevas of College of Notre Dame scored the winning goal eight minutes into the first half.
Concordia remains winless at 0-5.
Whittier 2, Pacific Christian 1--Ryan Bean scored unassisted for Pacific Christian (2-1). Scott Manson and Claudio Ingrassia scored for Whittier, which plays College of Notre Dame for the championship at 3 p.m.
In nonconference men’s soccer:
Chapman 2, Colorado College 1 (OT)--Chapman avenged a loss last season, beating Colorado College (5-1) in overtime on Erik Hurtarte’s goal 11 minutes into the first overtime.
Hurtarte scored both goals for Chapman (4-0). Craig Bennett had six saves for Chapman allowing his first goal this season.
In nonconference women’s soccer:
UC Irvine 1, Loyola Marymount 0--Sophomore Tracie Manz scored with 30 seconds remaining in regulation to lead the Anteaters.
Manz scored from the left side on a pass from freshman Simone Ferrara. Manz leads the team in goals with two. UCI improved to 2-0-2.
