A 15-year-old Garden Grove youth was stabbed in the back, then hit with a stick Saturday night by two other teen-agers at a miniature golf and arcade center, police said.

The victim was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center. He was attacked from behind while playing a video game at Southern Hills Golfland on Beach Boulevard, said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Jay Mendez.

One of the teen-agers, a 15-year-old Westminster youth, allegedly stabbed the Garden Grove boy in the back with a knife, then the second youth, a 16-year-old from Santa Ana, hit him with a stick, Mendez said.

“Witnesses said there was no provocation at the time,” Mendez said. “These two just walked by and stabbed him.”

After the stabbing, Mendez said, a “free-for-all” erupted among several other teen-agers at the arcade. The two suspects fled on foot and were caught by a sheriff’s deputy a few blocks away, Mendez said.

After a witness identified the two teen-agers in a lineup, they were booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
