Bernice F. Livingston; Movie Advertising Pioneer

Bernice F. Livingston, 79, pioneering woman in motion picture advertising and promotion. Mrs. Livingston began her career more than half a century ago as a publicist for MGM in New York. She handled publicity campaigns for such films as “Open City,” Sir Laurence Olivier’s “Hamlet,” “Diabolique” and “Topkapi.” She moved to Los Angeles in 1973 to establish the West Coast office of the Diener-Hauser-Greenthal Agency, and later became senior vice president of the merged firm of Diener-Hauser and Bates. A strong advocate of women’s rights, Mrs. Livingston served on the state committee of the California Democratic Party. Last Sunday in Encino.
