Payson Wolff; Lawyer for Bob Hope, Record Companies

Payson Wolff, 74, entertainment lawyer whose clients included comedian Bob Hope and several major record companies. Recently he had represented Hope in negotiations over development of land the entertainer owns in the Simi Valley area. Wolff’s other clients included Capitol Records, Motown and Reprise. A native of Worthington, Minn., Wolff was educated at Harvard University and Yale Law School and served in Europe during World War II. He was a former law clerk of the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren. Wolff was with the Los Angeles firm of Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown for four decades. As a philanthropist, he was particularly involved with El Nido Family Centers, where he served as board vice president, major fund-raiser and adviser. On Thursday in Beverly Hills of cancer.
