A Question of Attribution (KCET Sunday at 9 p.m.) is an intriguing but static 1992 account of Sir Anthony Blunt (James Fox, in an excellent performance). Blunt was the haughty intellectual who became Queen Elizbeth II’s art curator while secretly being the “fourth man” in the notorious Burgess-MacLean-Phiilby spy ring that served the Soviet Union before and during World War II.

The Eiger Sanction (KTLA Monday at 8 p.m.) is a splendid 1975 high adventure, done with much wit and style. It finds Clint Eastwood, who also directed, scaling a virtually perpendicular mountain in the Swiss Alps as part of an international team of climbers. One of the climbers is a spy for the “other side” who’s stolen a formula for germ warfare, and Eastwood’s a professional assassin out to nail him.

The Legend of Billy Jean (KTLA Thursday at 8 p.m.) offers Helen Slater and Christian Slater in his feature debut. Here, they become a MTV-generation version of Bonnie and Clyde with a few deft strokes. With a few more, this uneven 1985 movie could have been a dark, horrific shocker.

Cabeza de Vaca (KCET Friday at 11 p.m.) is Nicolas Echeverria’s stunning anti-imperialist telling of an ill-fated 16th-Century Spanish voyage of exploration to Mexico and part of the United States. Juan Diego stars in this 1990 Mexican film.

The Exterminating Angel (KCET Saturday at 9 p.m.) is one of Luis Bunuel’s most inspired attacks on bourgeois morality; the guests at a swanky dinner party find themselves unable to leave--ever. Silvia Pinal stars.

Following “Angel” at 10:30 p.m. is the 1952 El (This Strange Passion), also made in Mexico. It is one of the simplest of Bunuel’s films but is also among his most powerful and subtle. In his usual matter-of-fact way, Bunuel persuades us that the man who would embrace the teachings of his church and the mores of his society would also be totally insane. Arturo de Cordova stars in a towering portrayal of a suave, middle-aged but virginal upper-middle-class man who finally finds the perfect woman (Delia Garces). She also happens, alas, to be engaged to an acquaintance of his.
