COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Chapman Shuts Out Claremont

Goalie Craig Bennett posted his fourth shutout as Chapman beat Claremont, 2-0, in nonconference men’s soccer Wednesday at Claremont.

Eric Parizek and Jason Hospedales each scored second-half goals. Chapman improved to 5-0.

In other nonconference men’s soccer:

Gonzaga 3, UC Irvine 0--Sean Flanigan scored two goals for host Gonzaga (1-4).

Goalie Matt Goldman had seven saves for Irvine (2-4).

Redlands 3, Concordia 2--Steve Steele had a goal and an assist and Todd Gibson scored a goal for visiting Concordia (0-7).

Fernando Campos, Dashan Hayhurst and Sean Griffen scored first-half goals for Redlands (1-3).

Southern California College 3, UC San Diego 2--Peter Schumerth scored on an assist from Martin Lippens in the first half and Sam Nokura and Lippens added second-half goals for Southern California College (4-4).

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Chapman 3, Redlands 0--Shawna Parkinson had 12 kills, Lori Fuller had 11 and Shanea Bishop had seven in 11 attempts for Chapman (4-2), which won, 15-5, 15-6, 15-11.
