Angels Could Lose It All in 3-Way Tie
Associated Press
NEW YORK —
If the Angels, Seattle and the New York Yankees finish the regular season with the same records, one of the West Division clubs will lose out on postseason play.
In the event they tie for first, Seattle and the Angels would play a one-game playoff for the AL West title. The winner would qualify for the postseason, but the loser would drop behind the Yankees in percentage, giving New York the wild-card berth.
If the playoffs were based on today’s records, the AL playoffs would open with the winner of the Angel-Seattle playoff game at New York and Boston at Cleveland.
