Ventura’s Avenue Library is calling all entries for a children’s poster contest that runs through Oct. 23.
The contest begins today with its theme “Books and Libraries Make a Difference.” All Avenue-area boys and girls from preschoolers to eighth-graders can pick up an official entry form at the Avenue Library, 807 N. Ventura Ave.
The library will award prizes for four age categories: preschool through kindergarten; first through third grade; fourth and fifth grade; and sixth through eighth grade. A panel from the Avenue area will judge the posters based on originality and conformance to the theme.
The library will display the winning posters in its front windows. Prizes, some donated by Patagonia Inc., will be awarded Oct. 29 at the Ventura Avenue Adult-Senior Center, 550 N. Ventura Ave., during the Avenue Make a Difference Day celebration.
