Share

Assembly & Manufacturing Systems Inc., a Simi Valley producer of robotic systems, is being acquired by a La Jolla developer of systems for the energy industry.

The purchaser, SGI International, expects to use Assembly’s robotics know-how in commercializing its process for producing oil and other liquids from coal, according to Joseph A. Savoca, SGI’s chairman and chief executive.

He said SGI also hopes that Assembly’s technology will be useful in developing the La Jolla company’s oil field enhancement products.
