ANAHEIM : Council to Consider Starting Transit Group

Share

The formation of a transportation management association for the Anaheim Canyon Business Center will be among the items discussed Tuesday by the City Council.

The association, a partnership between public and private agencies, would seek to reduce traffic congestion and improve access to businesses in the area. Funding would be provided by a $100,000 grant from the Orange County Transportation Authority.

This would be the second transportation management association formed in Anaheim. The first, which started in August, addresses traffic problems in the Anaheim resort and stadium areas.

The City Council also will consider approving a clean-fuel shuttle service that would run between the Metrolink commuter rail station in the Anaheim Canyon Business Center and nearby businesses. The Metrolink station, at Tustin and La Palma avenues, is scheduled to open in 1996.

OCTA has provided the city’s commuter services office with a $104,500 grant to create the shuttle service.

The vehicles would use alternative fuels, such as electricity, compressed natural gas or liquefied propane.

The council meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
