Not the Ticket

* As a skeptic concerning police departments’ motives for giving tickets (“Not So Fast,” Sept. 9), I recommend that all revenues from above a base [amount] be contributed to a charity of the hapless ticketee’s choice. The police officers should not receive any overtime pay for such “safety campaigns.”

Without these safeguards there is a clear case of conflict of interest--more revenue to the municipalities and possibly more pay to the officers any time they feel like it!
