NETWORK NEWS: A new cable network that will provide programming for the hearing impaired was kicked off in Hollywood on Tuesday.

Total Communication Network will begin airing on Nov. 4, offering programs in sign language, sound and open captions. Total Communication will launch with an hour of children’s programming, but the network has plans to expand its hours and the types of shows it broadcasts.

The new cable network is the brainchild of Marianne O’Reilly and her husband Eric--the parents of two sons, ages 9 and 12, who are hearing-impaired.

O’Reilly says she so far has verbal commitments from nine cable systems nationwide to carry the network, which would bring the show into the homes of 5 million cable subscribers
