County Offers Hot Line for Reporting Conflict Situations

Share

Los Angeles County residents may call a new “Keep the Peace” hot line--(213) 974-7622--to report conflicts and tensions that might result in violence.

Rabbi Lee Bycel, president of the county’s Human Relations Commission, said he and his colleagues “wanted to give people a place to call to report any incidents or situations in which hostilities and tensions are simmering.

The commission will refer the hot line reports to conflict resolution specialists. The panel has contacts with human relations groups across the county, Bycel said.

The 24-hour phone line will feature volunteers proficient in English, Spanish and Korean. It will be operational as long as there is a demand for it, he said.
