City Accepting Toxic Waste Drop-Offs
Thousands Oaks area residents who have leftover paint, pool chemicals or garden pesticides can dispose of the waste free of charge at a toxics drop-off day Saturday sponsored by the city.
Last year, the city collected 78 tons of toxic waste, and a good turnout is expected this year as well, said Marialyce Pedersen, a recycling assistant with the city.
Items accepted include all automobile chemicals, including oil or transmission fluid, and paints, batteries, pool and photo chemicals. Radioactive, explosive and infectious wastes are not accepted. The limit is 50 pounds or five gallons per household.
Residents of Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Oak Park, Bell Canyon, Lake Sherwood and the Santa Rosa Valley, Simi Valley and Moorpark may use the drop-off.
