LAGUNA NIGUEL : City Considers School Sites for Park Use
- Share via
Two parcels of open space previously earmarked for school development will be considered for use as parks by the City Council today.
City officials have been dealing with the Capistrano Unified School District and two developers for the sites, one at Bear Brand Road and Camino del Avion and the other at Aliso Creek Road and Niguel Heights Boulevard.
School officials are interested in holding development rights for both sites and have indicated to the city they are more serious about the Aliso Creek property.
However, district officials say they will likely have a need for the Bear Brand site as well.
But city officials say the district doesn’t have an option to buy the parcel or any obvious sources of revenue to build a school from either the state or district funds.
