Mission College will hold its annual Focus on Careers fair today in the campus center.
Workshops will be held on job-search strategies, resume writing and job interviewing.
Representatives of local employers, including Coca-Cola, United Parcel Services, Kaiser Permanente and others will provide information on various careers, Geri Shapiro, director of the career fair, said.
Instructors and officials from the college will be on hand to present information on the college’s academic, vocational and technical programs, which range from interior design, gerontology and office administration to child development, culinary arts and computer science.
Teachers and students from the college’s chemistry department will conduct a series of educational “magic” chemistry experiments every 15 minutes at the fair, beginning at 10 a.m. Representatives from Cal State Northridge, the state’s employment development department and various professional organizations, including paralegal and certified public accountants’ associations, will also provide information.
The free program will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the college, 13356 Eldridge Ave. in Sylmar.
