MarkAir Shuts Down: The financially troubled airline went out of business after Boeing Co. decided to repossess two of the airline’s four jets. The airline, which had leased the two planes from Boeing, said it wasn’t financially viable to continue operations with half its fleet. The decision stranded many passengers and put 450 employees out of work. MarkAir, Denver’s only long-haul discount carrier, had been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy since April. The company said it will convert the bankruptcy to a Chapter 7, which will allow it to liquidate its assets. Some other airlines said they will honor MarkAir tickets, but not unconditionally. Frontier Airlines offered to accept the tickets to five cities but passengers must pay a $75 fee.
