Finally, out of one and a half years of O.J. Simpson hoopla, comes an intelligent voice. “Stop Spouse Abuse in Its Infancy” by Lydia A. Nayo (Commentary, Oct. 18) is a cogent mini-masterpiece. If I had a daughter I would read it every night.

* Whereas it is important that each child feel special and good about himself or herself, if we truly want to stop the awful cycle of domestic violence, we must rear our children in violence-free homes. The best predictor of violence is a violent home, and until we come to that realization our children will not be safe, despite whatever other precautions we might take to ensure their well-being.
