Reserve goaltender Glenn Healy remained undefeated, and the New York Rangers got goals from five different players in a 5-2 victory Tuesday night over the Vancouver Canucks at New York.

Healy made 12 of his 23 saves in the final period after allowing a power-play goal to Dave Babych at 2:16 that drew the Canucks to 3-2. The victory gave Healy a 3-0 mark as Mike Richter’s backup.

The Rangers made it 4-2 when Alexei Kovalev scored with six minutes remaining. Mark Messier put the game out of reach with an empty-net goal at 19:35.

Brian Leetch, Pat Verbeek and rookie Niklas Sundstrom also scored for the Rangers.

Ottawa 2, Detroit 1--Don Beaupre made 22 saves, and Tom Chorske scored off a defensive error midway through the final period to give the Senators a victory at Detroit.

With Beaupre and Detroit’s Mike Vernon locked in a fierce duel of goaltenders, Red Wing defenseman Bob Rouse tried a long clearing pass. But he put the puck on Chorske’s stick, and the Ottawa forward scored on a slap shot with 9:20 remaining.

Florida 6, Toronto 1--Scott Mellanby scored his eighth goal in as many games and added an assist to lead the surprising Panthers at Toronto.

Brian Skrudland had two goals, and Jody Hull and Jesse Belanger also scored for Florida. Larry Murphy had the lone Toronto goal.

The victory left the third-year Panthers with 12 points, tying them with idle New Jersey for the lead in the Atlantic Division.

Dallas 3, Buffalo 0--Darcy Wakaluk stopped 27 shots to record his eighth career shutout, and Derian Hatcher had two assists and Nikolai Borschevsky, Dave Gagner and Todd Harvey had the goals for the Stars at Dallas.
