Review Criticizes Commodity Trading Enforcement Program: An internal review of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s enforcement program found “serious problems,” including inadequate resources and training to pursue wrongdoing in the nation’s commodity and futures markets, a House committee was told. The General Accounting Office said the findings “raise major questions about CFTC’s ability to adequately perform its enforcement mission.” But the GAO, the investigative arm of Congress, credited the CFTC for taking several steps to improve its enforcement program by reorganizing its enforcement division and improving training.
