SMALL FACES: Former N.W.A. member Yella is finishing his first solo album, which is expected to include contributions from former group mates Eazy-E (recorded shortly before his death from AIDS last March) and Ice Cube. It’s due in February or March. Yella is also overseeing the final work on Eazy’s upcoming posthumous album. . . .

Robbie Robertson has compiled the vast soundtrack for Martin Scorsese’s movie “Casino.” A two-CD album, due Nov. 21, will feature 31 tracks ranging from the silly (two Louis Prima medleys) to the sublime (a generous slice of Bach’s “St. Matthew” Passion), with such performers as Muddy Waters, the Moody Blues, Dinah Washington, Fleetwood Mac and Devo among others represented. . . .

Portishead is at home in Bristol finishing its second album. . . . Stereo MCs’ next is also in the final work stages, due in February. . . .
