Share

A Bank of America branch in Port Hueneme was robbed Tuesday afternoon for the third time this year.

At 3:30 p.m., a man entered the bank at 755 W. Channel Islands Blvd. and demanded money from a teller, using a note scribbled on the back of a deposit slip, said Gary Auer, the FBI special agent for Ventura County.

The note included a warning that the robber could shoot the teller, Auer said, adding that the suspect made no verbal threats.

The FBI is looking for a Latino male, about 35 years old. The man is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, about 180 pounds with a “chunky” build and salt-and-pepper hair that may be a wig, Auer said.

During the robbery, the robber wore a long-sleeve tan dress shirt, a gray and brown cardigan sweater, a brown and black tie and Docker-style pants, Auer said. The robber put the money in a black checkbook carrier and left in an older model white vehicle, possibly a Volkswagen. He entered the passenger side and was driven from the scene by a female, Auer said.

The same Bank of America branch was robbed Sept. 21 and Aug. 15.

Tuesday’s robbery was the 35th bank robbery in Ventura County this year. Auer said the FBI had not yet connected Tuesday’s robbery with any others.
