Freda Granite; Agent for Susan Anton, Rudy Vallee

Freda Granite, 77, veteran Hollywood talent agent whose clients included Susan Anton and Rudy Vallee. A third-generation Angeleno, Mrs. Granite learned to drive in a Model T on Hill Street and attended Poly High School. She was a founding member of the Beverly Hills Parlour of the Native Daughters of the Golden West and during World War II was president of the Hollywood Guild Canteen Juniors. She began her career in advertising, working her way up to general manager of the Foster Advertising Agency. Later switching to booking talent, she worked with Harold Swoverland, representing character actors, and then opened Granite Talent Agency in the 1960s. In addition to Miss Anton and Vallee, Mrs. Granite represented the child star Rodney Allen Rippy. She has been honored by the city of Los Angeles for her work with minorities, and in her later years worked with the Claude Pepper Senior Citizens Center in West Los Angeles. On Oct. 22 in Los Angeles of cancer.
