COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Arizona State Has Handle on Ball

Share

Through eight games, Arizona State has not had a rusher fumble, a stretch that covers 313 carries.

“I don’t recall a team ever doing that,” UCLA Coach Terry Donahue said of Saturday’s opponent. “That is a unique stat. I’d like to know what they are doing.”

Probably much the same as the Bruins. Through eight games, UCLA has a turnover ratio of plus 10, best in the Pacific 10 Conference and ninth best in the country. The Bruins have intercepted eight passes and recovered 14 fumbles, getting nine touchdowns out of the turnovers. UCLA players have lost nine fumbles and thrown three interceptions.

As of Wednesday, Donahue thought linebacker Donnie Edwards (back injury) may play Saturday and receiver Kevin Jordan (knee) will not.
